These pages describe the intended Arc and Vantage update. Interface labels and final availability will be checked against the release build before publication.
Choose the path that matches what you have today. You can start a research task in Arc without a prepared workspace. The Vantage path assumes you can enter a workspace with data you are allowed to inspect.

Path A: plan research in Arc

You need: access to Arc and, for source lookup, a permitted research tool.
  1. Start a chat with a specific question. For example: “Help me plan how to collect information about [subject]. What sources, access needs, and open questions should I consider?”
  2. Use the research tools available to you to investigate candidate sources. Check which statements have retrieved sources and which are suggestions that still need verification.
  3. Put related conversations in a chat project. Add only the instructions and reference files you want later conversations to use.
  4. Create a collection-plan artefact. Record the purpose, proposed scope, source references, and unresolved questions. Inspect it before sharing it as a finished product.
Result: a saved plan you can revise or export. Saving it does not approve or publish it.

Path B: investigate evidence in Vantage

You need: access to a workspace containing collections and datasets you may read, plus an eligible agent definition for Explorer.
  1. Open the workspace and orient yourself to its goal, available collections, data coverage, and processing state. An inaccessible or unfinished source must not be treated as evidence that nothing happened.
  2. Start an investigation in Explorer with a focused question. For example: “What changed in [subject or period], and which source records support that assessment?”
  3. Follow at least one material finding to its cited source version. Look for limitations, conflicting evidence, and gaps in collection or processing.
  4. Refine the question or correct the investigation, then save useful findings as a workspace artefact.
  5. If that artefact needs publication, request human review of the exact version. Approval and publication are separate steps.
Result: a saved investigation and an output whose supporting evidence you can inspect.

Move a selected plan between products

If you developed a collection plan in Arc and need it in Vantage, export the selected artefact version from Arc and upload it into the destination workspace. The import creates a new artefact there, with its own owner and version history. Your Arc chat history and project files remain in Arc.
